My experience leading meaningful travel and changing lives

From Nepal to the Celtic Lands: My Journey of Leading Meaningful Travel and Changing Lives

When I first began leading tours to Nepal, I never imagined the profound impact it would have—not only on the lives of the local communities we were helping, but on the lives of the travelers who joined us on these journeys. It’s been a long and transformative path, one that has intertwined travel, charity work, and leadership in a way I never anticipated. Along the way, I learned firsthand how meaningful travel—travel that is immersive and culturally rich—has the potential to change lives for the better, both for the locals and for the travelers who take part in these experiences.

Building Seven Women: A Journey of Compassion and Change

As the founder of Seven Women, a grassroots charity based in Nepal, my mission has always been clear: to empower women through education and employment opportunities, while providing travelers with the chance to give back through their journeys. Over the years, as I led groups from universities, leadership organizations, and Rotary clubs, I witnessed the transformative power of travel firsthand.

The tours to Nepal were never just about sightseeing. They were about stepping into another world—one where every action, every interaction, had the potential to create real, lasting change. Our travelers didn’t just visit Nepal; they immersed themselves in its culture, its challenges, and its triumphs. They got to know the women of Seven Women, met local artisans, worked on sustainable projects, and connected with a community that was eager to share its stories and skills.

These tours were a blend of adventure, learning, and giving—experiences that left lasting impressions on both our travelers and the people of Nepal. From university students to corporate leaders, each person who joined us on these journeys found that the true value of travel isn’t just in the places you see—it’s in the connections you make and the positive change you can help create.

Leadership Through Travel: Empowering People of All Ages

Over the years, I had the privilege of leading groups of all ages, from university students participating in study-abroad programs with five different universities, to leadership organizations such as Leadership Victoria, and diverse Rotary groups from around the world. These groups were eager to learn, grow, and contribute to a greater purpose. Together, we tackled social issues, created sustainable enterprises, and worked hand-in-hand with local communities to build something that would last long after the tours ended.

There was one common thread among all these groups: the power of leadership. As I guided them through Nepal, I realized that leadership is not just about making decisions from the front—it’s about empowering others to lead in their own way. The groups I led in Nepal didn’t just participate in tours—they became part of a shared vision, one where every traveler had the chance to contribute meaningfully to the local community and leave behind something positive.

The beauty of leadership through meaningful travel is that it is a transformative experience, not only for the communities we help but for the travelers themselves. Many of our past travelers have told me how the experience shaped their personal growth, ignited their passion for social change, and gave them a deeper understanding of the world. It’s these stories that inspire me to continue my journey—one that now extends to new corners of the world, like Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and England.

The Celtic Way: A New Chapter of Leadership and Meaningful Travel

As I reflect on the incredible journey I’ve had leading tours to Nepal and building Seven Women, I’m excited to announce a new chapter: the launch of The Celtic Way—a new venture that will take travelers on unforgettable journeys through the stunning landscapes, rich history, and vibrant cultures of Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and England.

Much like my Nepal tours, The Celtic Way is designed to offer immersive, meaningful travel experiences. These are not your typical sightseeing tours. Instead, they focus on fostering deep connections with the local communities and the land itself. Whether you’re exploring the rugged coastlines of Ireland, the ancient castles of Scotland, or the charming villages of Wales, each experience is carefully crafted to give you a glimpse into the heart of these Celtic lands.

But this isn’t just about exploring beautiful places—it’s about experiencing culture in a way that enriches your life and the lives of the locals you meet. Through partnerships with local artisans, sustainable farms, and community projects, travelers will have the chance to contribute to causes that matter, just as they did on our Nepal tours.

Whether you're a student, a professional, or a retiree seeking adventure, the tours with The Celtic Way offer a chance for personal growth, leadership, and connection. Like our Nepal journeys, these tours are an opportunity to step outside your comfort zone, discover new perspectives, and make a real difference while traveling.

The Power of Meaningful Travel: Changing Lives for the Better

I’ve seen firsthand how travel can change lives. Not just through the places you visit or the memories you create, but through the impact you make on the people and places you encounter. I’ve watched travelers grow in their leadership skills, deepen their understanding of global issues, and return home with a renewed sense of purpose. I’ve seen communities in Nepal, who once struggled, flourish with the help of travelers who offered their time, skills, and resources.

This is what meaningful travel is all about—being a part of something larger than yourself. It’s about making connections that transcend borders, supporting local communities, and gaining insights that transform the way we see the world.

With The Celtic Way, I am excited to continue this journey, offering travelers an opportunity to step into new cultures, create meaningful change, and experience the transformative power of travel—just as we did in Nepal. Whether you're looking to expand your leadership skills, immerse yourself in a new culture, or simply explore the beauty of the Celtic lands, I invite you to join us on an unforgettable adventure.

Together, we can continue to change lives—for the better of both locals and travelers.
