Seven Women has had two documentaries made about our work and had hosted screenings all over the world to fundraise for our programs in Nepal. The first documentary “Bringing the Light” showcases the work of the Seven Women team with a focus on our literacy programs in the remote villages in which we work. The second “A Spirited Journey”, focuses on the impact of tourism through the documentation of our last tour to Nepal in February 2020, with delegates and friends from all over the world.

Our first documentary is now available FREE to view below and we are about to launch our most recent documentary and are currently looking for people interested to get involved, host a screening in their community/among friends and to join us in our efforts to fundraise to continue our work.

WHY A DOCUMENTARY SCREENING EVENT?

A film event is simple and straightforward to organise, and it can be any size! It's a great way to bring a community together on issues that matter and remind people of the power of education in human development.

Our documentaries follow the stories of several women involved with the organisation – each representing the different challenges women face in Nepali society – domestic violence, discrimination, lack of education, poverty, young marriage, risk of human trafficking and exploitation. By hosting a film screening of our documentaries, you are helping raise awareness and encourage people to take action to empower women for a brighter future.

If you request to host a screening, we will provide you with an Info pack covering some background to the film and the organisation Seven Women as well as guidance on hosting a successful film event.

Our Films

A SPIRITED JOURNEY - An uncovering of the spirit within

We are launching our second documentary in 2021: A SPIRITED JOURNEY - An uncovering of the spirit within. This new documentary updates you on the life-transforming work of the Seven Women organisation in Nepal and the incredible human spirit. It highlights the journey of a group of Global travellers as they experience a life-enriching 10-day immersion in Nepal. This documentary shows Trade not Aid in action and the positive impacts tourism can have on local communities.

We are now launching it on Vimeo and inviting you to host a screening of this documentary. By hosting this documentary, you are helping us increase awareness and fundraise money for our scholarship programs that could bring positive changes to women’s life in Nepal.

Bringing the Light: The Seven Women Story

“Bringing the Light” is our very first documentary released in 2015. The film follows a group of Nepali women over four years. It tells the story of Seven Women’s work and our education programs in the villages in Nepal. The women’s lives have been radically changed with access to education and skills training; providing them with the ability to become self-sufficient with sustainable income generation. A story of courage, resilience and strength, these women seek to create a better life for themselves, their families and other women in Nepal.

This film has been screen-hosted in communities and venues not only in Australia but all over the world including Ireland, Brussels, Bahrain and Taiwan. We are grateful for the generous support from people and now we are making this film FREE to watch online!

It’s incredibly rewarding to see the transformation that happens in women when they have been given an opportunity.
